This diptych combines Eastern spirit and modern painting techniques, using fish as a symbol of vitality, struggle, and transformation amidst waves and landscapes. In the first painting, a red koi leaps energetically above the surging waves, set against misty mountains—a metaphor for perseverance and self-breakthrough. A small fish watches in the lower corner, hinting at growth and generational change.
The second painting shows the koi entwined with the waves, its movement graceful and the palette calmer. The integration of water and fish suggests inner transformation and tranquility after striving. Distant mountains and flowing clouds enhance the poetic spatial effect. Together, these works embody the legendary motif of “the carp leaping over the dragon gate,” celebrating resilience, metamorphosis, and spiritual ascent.
